Fan-Based Electric Diffusers

Fan-based electric diffusers like the Spa Scenter are an excellent way to quickly or continuously fragrance a larger space. Like the Scent Ball and Car Scenter, they also use cotton pads though round and larger. Essential oils are applied to the cotton pad in varying amounts depending on desired strength of the scent, but instead of using heat to release the scent, the pad is placed over a variable speed fan that blows cool air through the pad and out of the unit. These units run somewhere in the $30 to $50 range and are relatively quiet making them the perfect choice for creating a home spa environment. They can be connected to a timer for more efficient unsupervised use.

By far the most effective and expensive diffusers you can use. They consist of a hand-blown glass nebulizer that's attached to a motorized base which when plugged in forces the essential oils' aromatic molecules into the air in a fine, barely discernible jet stream. Since no heat is involved in the process the aromatic components of the oils remain unaltered providing maximum therapeutic value. This type of diffuser tends to cover large areas quickly and can be a little noisy. Still they're the best to use for eliminating airborne bacteria and viruses. They're also highly effective for odor elimination, managing allergy symptoms like congestion, or easing insomnia and anxiety. Prices range from $50 to $150 depending on features desired.

The Incredible Benefits of Using an Essential Oil Diffuser

A cold essential oil diffuser release oils into the air in a very, very fine mist. Because no heat is involved, the whole oil molecule stays intact, and you're breathing essential oils into the lungs, the air around is ionized and cleansed, odors and mold are neutralized, and the room smells great.

If you have a lot of lung problems, are dealing with asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia, allergies, coughing, sore throat or a stuffy head, consider using a diffuser around the house and at the office. It is one of the easiest ways to be introduced to essential oils and incredibly effective for cleaning the environment.

With the use of therapeutic grade essential oils like cinnamon and tea tree, in your diffuser you can combat mold spores, mildew, pet dander, allergens, pollen and many airborne bacteria. Use lemon or peppermint to lift up everyone's mood, or lavender to help you sleep at night. The uses are endless.

Carrier oils

Carrier oils are plant based fatty oils used to dilute essential oils. A good rule of thumb is to always perform a skin patch test using 1 drop essential oil and 1ml carrier oil. This creates a 5% solution. So, if you have 5ml carrier oil (or 1 teaspoon), 5 drops of essential oil is the maximum to maintain the 5% solution. There are many safe carrier oils like vegetable oil, coconut oil, sweet almond oil, grape seed oil, jojoba oil, olive oil, and other oils.

If you have a vitamin E allergy, Jojoba oil is a great option. If you or a family member has an allergy to nuts, please check for nut based oils in blends and steer clear of almond and coconut carrier oils. Ingredients should be listed on labels, however, it's always a safe idea to call the companies directly. Use extra caution with young skin, elderly skin, sensitive skin, damaged skin, inflamed skin, and especially diseased skin.

These skin types absorb more oil and are usually sensitive to the potency. Topical use of Wintergreen, peppermint, and birch should be avoided by people with sensitive skin. Aromatic use are safe for pregnant women, but caution should be shown with topical application, especially in the first three months. Pregnant women should avoid the following oils: Aniseed, Basil, Birth, Camphor, Hyssop, Mugwort, Parsley seed or leaf, Pennroyal, Sage, Tansy, Tarragon, For fans of aromatherapy, this essential oil necklace diffuser is a must-have item. Natural vs Synthetic Aromatherapy Oils

Natural aromatherapy essential oils represent a high concentration of vegetative extracts derived by evaporation or extraction from flowers, berries, seeds, roots, bark or citrus dried peels. How much an essential oils is sold for depends on the amount of raw material required to produce the oil.

The amount differs from plant to plant. For example, from the petals of thirty roses it is possible to receive only one drop of rose oil, from this comes its high price though there are also cheaper oils. Man made or synthetic oils are made by combining certain artificially flavored oils in laboratories. In technical language, flavored oils are actually not oils and are more likely artificial chemical compounds.

These products usually carry exotic names of flowers or fruit from which they have not been derived. True peach or strawberry oils do not exist. Even though their aroma is pleasant, flavored oils do not possess any healing qualities or any properties of plants. They cannot be used for medicinal reasons and some can be dangerous when applied to the skin. As a precaution it is suggested that you not use these substances for aromatherapy applications as there is no information on their safety.
